With spring around the corner, the official wedding season is nearly in full swing. But if you dream of a Winter wedding and of saying ‘I Do’ surrounded by layers of soft snow then Taylor and Damian’s magical wedding high up in the Canadian Rocky Mountains might just be the perfect wedding inspiration for you!
A Winter wedding lends itself beautifully to a red colour palette and from the gorgeous bouquet which Taylor designed and made herself to the cosy Mr & Mrs red plaid blankets which the happy couple wrapped themselves up in against the cold each detail sets the most romantic of scenes. Taylor and Damian wanted a relaxed and intimate atmosphere and their wedding was full of homemade rustic touches, including wooden decorations, hot chocolate, and a candy bar for their 24 special guests to treat themselves during the day.
Now for the dress and of course the shoes! Getting married in the winter means you can choose one of my favourite dress elements – sleeves! Taylor wore a gorgeous Maggie Sottero dress with beautiful lace detailing and long lace sleeves, the perfect choice to go with her handmade House of Eliot ‘Evangeline Elliot‘ vintage lace boots. I think you’ll agree that Taylor looked breathtaking and I can’t thank her and Damian enough for sharing their wonderful day with us!
Wishing them both much love and happiness together and I hope you enjoy their magical winter wedding as much as I did!
Wedding Wishes and Love as always,
Nicole xo
So how did you meet your husband and how did he propose?
We met each other online. It was truly love at first sight, when I didn’t know that was possible! We fell deeply for each other quickly. Our families and friends would say we were destined to be together. Our first date was on beautiful spring day. We went for a walk, where he then carried me across a river to a cute little deserted island. This is where we shared our first kiss, and later, same area where he proposed to me. He had set up a picnic, with champagne, delicious snacks, music… He had the ring tied to the bottom of my champagne glass. Of course, I said yes!
Where did you get married and who did you invite?
We got married at Baker Creek Mountain Resort, Lake Louise, Alberta. A gorgeous cabin getaway nestled in the Rocky Mountains. Our wedding was very small, consisted of only close family and friends- 24 guests!
What was the main inspiration for your wedding?
Our wedding theme was definitely winter wonderland themed. We wanted it to be a cozy retreat for everyone as each guest spent 2-3 nights there. Our colors were red and white. Every guest was instructed to have an accent (of any sort) of red. The white was a given with all the fluffy snow that came down that day!
Tell us about your wedding look
Definitely vintage and classy! I wore a Maggie Sottero lace dress called ‘Blanche’ in ivory.
What made you choose a pair of House of Elliot boots for your wedding day?
The shoes are classy, vintage, and just gorgeous! They made my wedding look come together perfectly! They also kept me warm on my wedding day.

What did you love the most about your wedding day?
I loved the entire day, it was an intimate, relaxed environment. I loved marrying the love of my life! I loved having my family and friends there, I loved the violinist, the food, sparkles, laughter, and the love that shined in his eyes!
What pearls of wisdom would you share with future brides who are planning their wedding?
I know it’s hard not to, but don’t stress! Expect little things to go “wrong” or unplanned on your wedding day, that’s what makes for the best stories later on! Smile, and know, you are marrying the love of your life!
Anything else you would like to share…
Special thanks to House of Elliot for being very accommodating, responsive, and for creating the shoes I got to walk down the aisle in!
Thank you Taylor!! That is so kind of you to say, much love, Nicole xo
Taylor and Damian would like to thank all the fabulous suppliers who made their day special!
